snap out of it...you had NO risk :)
hiv is transmitted through...
unprotected vaginal / anal intercourse
sharing iv drug works
mother to child
hiv is not transmitted through fingering OR oral sex.
testing is not needed.
As the previous poster said, testing is not needed and HIV symptoms do not appear that early. You had no risk to begin with. You are merely anxious because of your encounter.
I had a very similar experience to yours about a year ago. I was extremely depressed and had a loss of apetite. I would associate any "symptom" with HIV. 8 months later, I had a test and came out negative. What you are experiencing may be from stress and anxiety.
You are just feeling guilty and will probably feel better as time goes by. If you truly believe you had a risk then get tested within 3 months of the exposure. It will be negative though, I tested just to give myself peace of mind but like Lizzie said, you had no risk.
Thank you all for your answers. It really helped me out.
It's been 4-5 weeks now and I am having this white tongue, diarrehea that comes and goes and what really freaked me out is the swolled lymph node under my chin.
I did not know what type of condom I used. What if I used a low quality condom? If this was seroconversion, can I test now or shall I wait?
Those symptoms really bother me.
your symptoms are not hiv related.
I test today 6 weeks with 2 quick tests
one is positive and the other is negative
Please help me understand
They told me that I am 90% positive
and asked for a western blot
positive using Acon and negative using oraquick
It was more than 30 degrees in the room where I tested.
I tested twice positive with the Acon and once neg with the other test
I guess moving on is not easy right now
Please bear me in this difficult time and tell me why I should move on
It was fingerprick tests and the dr. told me that it was slightly pos
Can someone get 2 pos tests and still be negative !?
I understand what u said about the risks but I got positive results it's very frustrating.
maybe the condom was not of a good quality
maybe I had a cut on my penis (Which I usualy did have at times before)
I don't know
and I am having swollen lymph nodes in my neck and groins
The fact that you had one of the test come back negative is good so breath and relax a moment. Did they send your blood out for western blot? that is the usual procedures in the United States. When you get that test back it will be conclusive (if you test outside the window period). Please when you get your western blot test result post them. Your results are not common and will cause more anxiety for the people that follow this forum with similar non risk situations.
Good luck and God bless you
Hi 5ateya,
1st of all, recall, was your condom intact after the intercourse? If you checked, and it was ok, then you should be fine.
I read some articles about some weakly positives in rapid tests being actually false positives (ie: negative on western blot).
Let us know of your results ok? I hope that the test result will be fine.
May god bless you.

Condom was fine and vaginal penetration was brief.
I will get my results next monday.
I have a question, on saturday after the test I noticed a bump to the right of my throat and yesterday I got pain in my neck and when I touched it I found a small bump too on the back of my head that hurt very much when pressed.
Nothing in my armpits I guess and no fever or new rash.
Does that indicate ars and seroconversion and the faint lines on the testing kit or am I wrong.
I really appreciate your answers.
Hang in there,,,,am sure its a false positive,There are some people who test postive on ELISA but negative Western Blot ,let us know the results,, am more curious than you,,,
In mean while, leave your lymph nodes alone, the more you poke ,the more they swell
Good luck
Hi 5ateya,
Hmmm, what i am going to say will be adding fuel to my own anxiety, but probably a source of comfort to you, is that the advice about the symptoms point towards something that is not painful, not itchy, but very uncomfortable. meaning, you feel very sick, but your lymph nodes don't hurt, and your rashes don't itch.
About false positives, especially with weakly positive rapid tests, you can take a look at this article. I hope this article can relieve some of your anxiety while you wait for your western blot results to come back on monday.

I hope that your monday results will be fine.
May God bless you.

Hi 5ateya,
Yah, and regarding your weakly positive rapid test, take note of this phrase in the article i showed you.
"17 of the 229 samples were weakly positive on rapid testing and all were negative or indeterminate by WB. The false-positive rate fell to 3.3% (95%CI 1.3–6.7) when only strong-positive rapid test results were considered. "
Hope this can help to calm your anxiety down till monday.
All the best.
May God bless you.

thx so much for ur replies I really appreciate ur concern.
I too hope not to be positive. I do not want to say this kinda news to my parents they would be crushed.
Please do post your results. It will be a crucial one for many of us. Our prayers are with you.
Hi 5ateya,
My heart is with you. I understand what you are going through now, because i myself have no where to go and no one to turn to, too, except for this forum, and my local hiv cousellor, whom i do not want to bother too much, except for her to be with me when i go for my test.
You were very sure that the condom was intact, that is very good news, assuming you had no other exposures other than that one, your situation has a very very good outlook.
All the best ok?
May God bless you.

First and only exposure was in that night that I did not even enjoy.
I did not even climax and I just left all of a sudden.
I am just out of all this anxiety.. Had a negative at 16 weeks ( ELISA)..
Listen dude.. if the symptoms started the very next day.. then it cannot be HIV..
because : the symptoms start when u are seroconverting. When will you seroconvert? Anshwer : When the HIV virus reaches a sufficient level in your body, which takes around 10 days or so.. Seroconverting on the very next day is next to impossible.. Read up anywhere on the internet.. everywhere it says 2-3 weeks is the normal range.
I would suggest you to go to the best hospital in your city and ask for an ELISA test, which is very specific and much more accurate than these Rapid Tests...
hi,
calm down and get a second opinion. your exposures should not leave you at risk for hiv as per current medical opinion, unless you did not put the condom on properly or it broke or something. being the first time, "beginner's luck" should have favored you. go and meet a sexologist instead of doing the tests yourself.
Did you get your test results????
