PEP oral sex with ejaculation while having 2 canker sore under my lips

Hi Sir/Mam.

I had a brief oral sex exposure where the guy came in my mouth and in probably less than a minute I spat it out. I had 2 canker sores under my upper lip caused 3 days prior to meeting this man (they were painful and burning). I asked the man if he was safe and uses condoms with other guys. He said he doesnt like condoms so he doesnt use it with other men. I am not into anal sex at all. So I went o PEP for my oral exposure. Its been 7 days I am facing horrible side effects. The medications are very strong. Am I at risk for HIV? I would really want to stop the PEP and they are giving me many side effects. Please help me answer my question.

We get a lot of questions about oral sex here. But it's not a risk for HIV. The only risks for HIV are having unprotected vaginal or anal sex or sharing IV drug needles to inject drugs. Canker sores under lip will not lead to hiv transmission. Air and saliva inactivate the virus. No risk

And pep was not necessary. A doctor giving that to you for oral sex sounds uneducated about HIV. Pep is very hard to take, so consider discontinuing that. You don't need it
Thank you for the answer. I shall discontinue the PEP regime. Feeling much better after reading your answers. Just one last question. Even if the ejaculation was there nearly for a minute in my mouth with the sores and the opposite person would have been positive with high viral load still there are no chances of acquiring HIV?
I'm sure you know the meaning of the word "only" so it is time to move on instead of repeating variations of the same question that was answered.

The only risks for HIV in adults are:
1) Having unprotected (no condom) penetrative anal or vaginal sex, OR
2) Sharing IV drug equipment with other IV drug users.

You did not have a risk for HIV. You did not need PEP.
If you are having side effects from PEP, talk to your doctor about stopping PEP, since you did not need it anyway.
