Yesterday at 11:00 am I had a sexual encounter using a condom for oral and vaginal sex. The condom came off for about 60 seconds and then I stopped. I am a male in Ohio 35 she is a female and 30. She has one other partner. She informed me he was just tested in October for all stds and came back negative. I was paranoid and asked her to take a Ora quick test she did and it was negative. I have a doctors appointment today and was wondering should I ask to be put on PEP? Also what are my chances of getting any stds from this encounter.
PEP is intended for high-risk exposures, generally when one partner is known to be HIV+. Your risk for HIV is extremely low - about 0.04%, assuming she is HIV-positive, which seems unlikely.
No, but given that the information posted here comes directly from experts in the field, and from simple statistics, you'd be wasting your money.
1) The odds that your partner was HIV+ are very low - most people are not.
2) The odds of her testing negative, but actually being positive, are extremely low.
3) The odds of contracting HIV from and HIV+ person in this instance are 0.04%.
The odds against all 3 of these thing happening are astronomical. You can test if you want, but it would generally be for peace of mind rather than having any realistic risk.
