Prep

Hi there,

So I have prep (not started yet)
The tenvir blue pill - I would like to know does steroids stop the pill from
Working? I understand a lot of stress however I would like to find out what drugs supplements stop this pill from working.

I understand that from HIV positive friends that milk thistle stops their medications from working.

What I am taking is legal by the way.

Thanks

Sorry the HIV clinics are ran by NHS yes.
Everything in UK is run by the NHS.

Some guys are going to clinic and saying they had a risk sex to obtain PEP and then they do the same a week later in another clinic.

Called clinic hopping - this is a way to obtain prep for free but there is a lot involved and a lot of lies.

In the UK we get PEP free - which includes to drug for prep
- so guys see this as an opportunity to cheat the system.

I am trying to do the honest way.

I have got the stuff online - which is a site that the HIV clinic gives out in UK as being the legit one.

I do understand what you mean and I am a little nervous - here in UK everyone is being told to use this website and then you are protected.

But are we......

This in turn could end up with more infections.

Sorry that I'm not up to date on healthcare in the UK. Does "going private" mean you've received the medication from an HIV Clinic? Or are those also run by the NHS?
Please tell me you didn't get them on the street or online! I'm sure you're aware of the dangers of going that route.

I have included contact information for "AIDS VANCOUVER" in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. I feel confident they will be able to help with your questions.

The doctor who prescribed PrEP for you should have gone over ANY and ALL possible restrictions and/or contraindications for taking this medication. Before you begin taking this drug, I would strongly advise you to have a further and more in depth discussion with your doctor regarding your concerns.
I do not personally know the answer to your question..........perhaps someone else on this forum is better educated about PrEP than I am and for your sake, I hope there is.
In the meantime, I have found some information that addresses your question specifically, but I still rigorously urge you to discuss THIS and all your questions with your doctor.

Tell your doctor what other prescription or over-the-counter meds, vitamins, or herbal supplements you take, and also any recreational drugs or alcoholic beverages you consume. Truvada should not be taken in combination with certain other HIV drugs. These include the meds that make up Truvada — Emtriva and Viread — and other meds that contain them, such as Atripla, Complera, and Stribild. You also shouldn’t take Truvada with drugs containing lamivudine, an HIV drug marketed under the brand name Epivir. If you’re HIV-negative, you’re most likely not taking these, but you should have the information. And if your partner is positive, no, you can’t trade drugs with each other — different ones are right for different people, and Truvada is the only one to date approved by government regulators for HIV prevention. You should also not take Truvada with Hepsera, a drug used to treat hepatitis B.rEP
