Risk following Duo test at 26 days

Hi,

On holiday 8 weeks ago I was with a prostitute who I believe was of African origin.

I was extremely drunk and frighteningly there are a lot of blanks over the course of the evening... I definitely had protected oral sex and then she wanted to have vaginal sex, the next thing I remember is being behind her and her telling me the condom wasn't on,.. I genuinely don't know if we had sex or were about to, I only remember the wave of panic before I ran away basically.

The week following I didn't sleep or eat for worrying, lost 4-5lbs, headaches, loose bowels, night sweats but I understand this was probably due to worrying/anxiety...

At 26 days I received a blood test at my local GUM clinic, large NHS one in a large UK city, their website advertises it as doing duo tests and the doctor didn't say what test they used but stressed 4 weeks was very accurate now and although they offered another test at 3 months she implied she felt it was an outdated practice...

I developed a sore throat and dry cough at about 7-10 days, the cough lasted about 2 weeks, however the tight throat, red inside and felt the constant need to swallow lasted 6 weeks total...

Would the test most likely be a Duo?

Would this be effective at 26 days?

Considering my throat would you be worried/suggest further testing?

I'm constantly worrying and have spent all day everyday of the last 8 weeks between work and studying "googling" HIV/looking for symptoms...

Really appreciate any advice!

Further to the above my sore/tight throat causing me to swallow constantly has returned 10 weeks after the initial encounter...

Hi,

I have confirmed that the test I received 26 days after my possible exposure was a 4th gen Duo, however they said I would need to retest at 12 weeks?

Why is this? Just old protocol that hasn't been updated?

Thanks again

You would have to call them and ask them what test. I believe they all use DUO.

Yes
