Hi Dr,
First off I appreciate you for the help you are giving 1000s of ppl like me suffering with HIV phobia. I am 28 yr old asian male from Houston, Texas. I am sexually active and I have always used a barrier method while I was dating women. I get myself checked yearly though I use a condom and all the while last feb my antibody test came negative. Now that is my recent status. Recently, about a month back, I met a new friend. She is around 36 and a respectable job in a University. She has been divorced and currently single. We became friends in a short span of time and started to hang out. One saturday we drank too much and I had unprotected intercourse with her. I ejaculated outside her. The next morning when we woke up I was worried abt STDs and she was worried about becoming pregnant. Her pregnancy was ruled out but my paranoi with contracting any STD increased. Lately, after 1 month of exposure, I began experiencing cold, malaise, nasal conjestion, muscle aches and mild headache at the back of my neck and above and around my eyes. Throught this week I tried checking my temperature. It was never beyond 98.2 F . My symptoms were also very very mild. Three days after that I had a bad flare up of dandruff and I also had white dry areas on my face itching mildly. I consulted a dermatologist and he said it is facial dandruff in a mild form. I did have dandruff problem since many years. But the facial dandruff seemed a bit freaky. It is very mild. My question is that, could it be possible HIV exposure. I am in contact with my friend. I asked her sexual history she said she is pretty clean and before me she dated another guy. I cant pursue her more than that as she will take me for a freak. Based on your expereince should I get myself tested for HIV via the early detection PDR test. It is day 10 since I had those symptoms.I am feeling ok. Could the headcahe be HIV meningitis. Pardon me Dr, but I have so many doubts. If I get a chance I will always never drink and do sex. Kindly answer my question and I higly appreciate the support and help you are doing to people like me.
Thanking You In Advance,
Mr. S.
