Hi Experts.
Small difference of pH level will loosen the infectivity of HIV virus. Then how vaginal fluid contain active HIV virus? Since vaginal pH level is in bw 3.5 to 5. Kindly answer my Question.
The question you ask is academic in nature, and is of zero value to the prevention of HIV. This is an HIV prevention forum, and we aren't here to debate well-known scientific facts, such as where the HIV virus "lives."
Did you have an event that you think was a risk for HIV?
Dear Mam,
I need to know about the fact about it. Got an un protected exposure actually. I read that HIV can enter through vagina or rectum due to tears or damage when penetration occurs.
Same as penile damage, sores etc ..
Is this a right statement or HIV can enter even without damage of tissues?
Also vaginal environment is acidic I heard. And here itself stated small changes of pH will inactive HIV virus. So I would like to know how HIV is survive in that acidic condition.
It doesn't matter WHY HIV survives in the vagina. It does, and we know this for a fact.
Tissue damage is not always visible or noticeable at all. If you had an unprotected anal or vaginal sex event, get tested with a 4th generation test at least 28 days after the event, or with any other test 3 months after the event to know your status for sure.
Can u please anyone answer this? I am sleepless since some more days. What I am assuming, small changes in pH level, temperature, moisture can inactive HIV. But why vaginal fluid contain HIV virus if it is huge difference of pH level. ? If I got a proper answer to convince my above mentioned beliefs, I will be indebted to you all.
