Sharing earrings

Hi all,

I'm writing in for advice regarding the level of risk for contracting hiv via sharing earrings and toothbrushes.
I'm extremely worried about my kids who have shared earrings with their mother on a number of occasions, sometimes she's taken an earring straight from her ear and past it straight to the kids.  My wife has recently disclosed to us that she has had several needlestick injuries over the years through work but, refuses to get tested.

The kids have used our toothbrushes a number of times (when they have left theirs at friends during sleepovers) and I now understand this is a risk too.

I'm really worried about them and would appreciate anyones advice.
thanks

Hi Teak,
Sorry to bring this up again. But, I've read the Doctors responses on sharing toothbrushes and he states that one should never share them with a hiv positive person. Yet, here you say there is no risk. I'm confused...Is there a risk or isn't there?

Doesn't matter if your wife is positive or not.

Thanks Teak. Is that still the case, if in the worst case scenario, that my wife has been positive for several years?
