Window Period After PEP

Dear all,

First of all, I apologize again for the further post. I have an update on my situation that I wanted to share and a follow-up question after some reading. I hope you bear with me and extend me the courtesy of responding to one FINAL inquiry.

As I wasn't pleased with the advice of my doctor, I scheduled an appointment with an infectious disease specialist today who works on HIV specifically. I communicated my test results to him and my situation. He says my testing is conclusive and that he recommends no further testing. This is very much in-line with what members of the forum have said and was a huge relief for me.

However, I was reading similar posts in the forum and some members seem to say that conclusive testing with IV generation is at 6 weeks after PEP not at 4 weeks. I saw this as recently as a couple of weeks back. I asked my doctor about this and he said: "it depends on who you ask" which only confused me further.

My final and last question is: what's the difference between testing at 4 weeks vs. 6 weeks. Has anyone in the forum seen someone with a negative at week 4 change to a positive at 6 weeks pending no further exposure. I'm very anxious about this and a response will resolve all my fear. It's been hard for me to move on but I'm really working on it and the support would help.

I hope my post does not get deleted. I promise this will be the last one regarding my situation. Thank you for the consideration.
