hi experts, i'm from vietnam, while walking in front of my house i stepped on a tip of needle, but only the tip of the needle has no body syringes my leg bleeds a little, am i at risk of hiv infection , thank you
This is not a risk for HIV. First of all, did you really step on a needle? About 99 percent of the time if not more, this is an imagined scenario. But regardless, if it really DID happen, it is still NOT a risk for HIV. Here ARE the risks for HIV: having unprotected vaginal or anal sex or sharing IV drug needles to INJECT drugs. Injecting drugs is not a needle poke. A needle poke involves air to the needle and no injection. HIV doesn't transmit that way. Air inactivates the virus. Simply being stuck or poked or stepping on a needle will NOT give you HIV. No risk.
