URGENT: HIV 1 and 2 ELISA test non reactive at day 20 post possible exposure.

Hi Dr,

I am a 25 year old male who had protected anal sex with another male who I met on Grindr, on Dec 9th 2017. He said he got tested 6 months ago and was ddf negative but I don’t know for sure.

I was the bottom/receptive partner. We made out, he fingered me, then penetrated me.

We used two condoms in total and mostly lube/sometimes his spit as lubricant. The first condom was intact and he pulled out when he came, which was inside the condom and outside me. We used plenty of lube. We disposed that condom and then he went again.

I used my hand and lube to get him hard again and then he tried to put the condom on but he was putting it on upside down. He reversed it and put in on properly. We went again and used lube and his spit as lubricant. This time we went for a longer time but he didn’t finish, he finished later on his own. I’m not sure if the condom slipped or if he was flaccid. The second time with him is worrying me a lot.

Today, Dec 30th 2017 (day 20 post possible infection), I had two tests done, as recommended by my dermatologist. HIV 1 and 2 Elisa which was non reactive at 0.10 and IGE which was 91.58 IU/mL.

I am very worried and I want to know what my next steps should be. My questions:

1) What is my risk?

2) Do you think I should be worried?

3) I have had 3 other partners with similar encounters prior to this  (me bottom, but always with condoms and lube) in the past 5 months, should I be worried?

4) What are my next steps?

Hoping to enter 2018 worry free, please help ASAP.

Happy and safe holidays.

Thanks and best,

AD123456.

Only sex risk is unprotected penetrating anal or vaginal. I am not sure what you mean by this since you would know if he was flaccid  "I’m not sure if the condom slipped or if he was flaccid."

If he used a condom all the time that he was penetrating then you had no risk.

The condom was on throughout. I meant to say, what would the risk be if it slipped? Thanks!
Only the head needs protection.
Thanks, do you think I need any further testing?
Your situation is straightforward if you reread the advice. Maybe talk to your doctor if you are still anxious, because you said the condom was on all the time, then you asked what if it slipped (which it obviously couldn't do).
