Hi, I have previously posted on this site before and communicated with Dr. Handsfield, so if you could read my previous posts that would be greatly appreciated. I will sum it up for those who cannot. 25 year old female, mother of three, ages 5,4,2.5 months. I was recently referred to a hematologist from my ob/gyn due to bilateral cervical lymphadenopathy. I tested for HIV with an antibody test in August 2010 at the health clinic because I was losing weight and scared it was HIV. It was negative. I then tested May 2, 2013 by Oraquick Advance with blood from vein, negative 8 weeks after potential exposure with partner of unknown status. I then tested June 29, 2013 by Oraquick home test negative. Then during pregnancy 09/10/2013 antibody test Icma antibody, negative. Today my cbc was ran and my WBC was low 4.7 while ref. range was 4.8-11. I am so worried that coupled with the multiple 5+ nodes which I am scheduled to have an ultrasound for that HIV was missed since I only done antibody tests. I have been crying all say worrying about my children. Can anyone offer me any comfort? I'm also having tingling in legs and arms, joint pain, and I am 5'5, 140lbs. Could this still be HIV?

I really think you would benefit from talking to a professional about your worries, which are at the irrational level at this point.  I always feel so badly when someone with HIV anxiety starts projecting that worry onto his/her children, including even having the children have to endure invasive testing/unnecessary medical procedures.  You're on that slippery slope now, as per your own post.  PLEASE get some help with that before you create worries for your children that are unwarranted, or before you start feeling the need to have them undergo testing, etc.

Best of luck.

Nursegirl, thank you. I get to the point where I think I'm okay and then something else happens to make me think I may be infected. I rarely ever get sick and lately my allergies have gone haywire, I'm itchy all over with dermatitis, I've been battling what I believe is tonsillitis, I just had the leep procedure performed today for severe cervical dysplasia, amongst other problems as well. I feel like I can't catch a break and my five year old has been refusing to eat and just looks too skinny to me. It's worrying me. He also has skin issues (linear and whirled hypo pigmentation) which I had him seen for before but am now seeking a second opinion. I know I could not live if I caused something for my children. Thank you.

You have multiple tests that are conclusive.  You do not have HIV.  Your WBC is not abnormal, it's barely below the cut off, and the cut offs vary a good bit from lab to lab.

You don't have an HIV concern.
