Very brief dipping :(

Greetings,

I am writing on behalf of a friend, he doesn't speak English and knows the basic about HIV transmission;however last night he got involved with a guy and performed oral sex to him without precum nor ejaculation for a couple of minutes, in the heat of the moment he said he allowed the guy to "dip" the tip of his penis into his anus in three different occasions for less than 5 seconds, the guy did not have pre-*** o any other secretion coming out of his penis, the guy kept insisting on having unprotected sex, but my friend left, as soon as he got home (1 to 2 mins after the act) he defecated and washed his anal area, gargled on salt water and went to bed, now he is freaking out and approached me , asking me about PEP....I am not sure , what to tell him, therefore, I am posting here for some advice, he is still within the time frame to take PEP, so he is very anxious, I know brief "dipping" without ejaculation nor precum carries a small risk, but is it risky enough to warrant PEP? Thank you in advance!

Hi. Im not a doctor but I can tell that oral sex carries an extremely low risk of transmission. About 0.04%, but the good news is that saliva in your mouth contains proteins which kill the virus. So testing incase or oral sex is not warranted.
Anal sex is a high risk activity but it was for a very small duration, but the risk persists. However HIV is not that easy to transmit. I had spoken to a doctor previously and he said that one episode doesn't transmits a virus. He said that a married couple, if one is hiv positive and they have unprotected sex regularly only in this condition the risk will increase.
Taking PEP might prevent the transmission of the virus, some say yes to this statement and some donot agree. PEP do have their own side effects.

Its better to consult a doctor. But tell your friend that HIV testing in not warranted in his case. However, if he is in anxiety or depressed he can get HIV RNA test which can catch the infection from 2-7 days I guess. Please check that online or with a GP.
And if he isnt satisfied he can have a conclusive test at 60 days.

Than You.
Tell your friend not to be in tension. He's safe.
