Worried

AHV
Hi, I am an 31 years old male ,I do not have a sexually active life, just once in a while, about 5 days ago I had an unporotected vaginal sex with a girl my age, I do not know her past, but 2 days after that day I got a flu, a mild fever, I went to a doctor and he gave me some antibiotics for my throat and some adult cold pills, now I am a bit worried about what had happened, is this related to HIV? when shall I go and take a test that has a reliable indication. Thanks

I really wish it had past 3 month so that I could get tested and the result would be conclusive. but it's only been a week since a probable exposure, I have had a flu , now I am better, a little sore throat which is also becoming better, I can not go and be tested right now, no use, right? and i am worried , although some say that the chance of you getting infected by only one exposure ( vaginal insertive sex) is very very low which I hope it is true, cause if it is I would be at much more ease? I hope that somebody answers my last question about the symptoms, it is really important for me. thanks in advance.

stop the symptom shopping.  the ONLY way to know one's status is by testing.

Do you have to have all the symptoms all at once or some may do? I mean I read that the early symptoms of HIV are headache, flu, fever, nausea, diarrhea, some skin problems, muscle pain , what if you get only few of these symptoms, does this mean that you are not infected? or you might be infected even without any symptoms?

I learned what I had to learn for sure, I was drunk that the time. however I am getting better with my flu and as I said before I don't have nausea, or some other symptoms or a skin problem which some may have, I don't know if this is a good indication, I can not get tested right now cause I know it will not show , it is too early. thanks again.

Sure, they can, but it's unlikely. He's already been advised to test. I just wanted to make him feel less anxious before taking the test.

HIV is rare and difficult to transmit. It is unlikely that you became infected from a single exposure of unprotected vaginal sex. Most people who've tested positive are ones who've had multiples exposures with several partners. Test to know your status for sure. Think about using condoms next time you have sex. Sex lasts minutes, HIV lasts a lifetime.

Thank you both very much for your comments, I read tons of articles on the symptoms, I just have the flu, a mild fever and a bit of sore throat, I do not have the other symptoms such as nausea, muscle pain, diarrhea,is this a good indication ? it's been almost 6 days from the exposure and 4 days since I got this flu, however I am getting a little better although I have not rested properly because of my work. the thing is that It's hard to wait 3 month. I have been restless since. any other advice would be appreciated, thanks in advance.

Your risk would be considered low based on the fact that it was just one encounter and two days is a bit too soon for the onset of HIV symptoms. To put yourself at ease I would test at 6 weeks which is usually a good indicator of your status and then at 13 weeks which would be considered conclusive.

Symptoms came on to quick to be related to ARS. The only way to know your status is by testing. Your 3 month post exposure test will be conclusive. Use condoms correctly and consistently and you'll avoid contracting HIV and most STDs.
