UPDATE:
i know teak said i should't come back since i didnt have and exposure, BUT i think it's really reassuring for anxious people like me to also read the posters results after they have tested.
so here goes: my test at 7 weeks (48 days) came out NEGATIVE
the thing happened during the night but i dont think some hours will make much difference. i read a lot and most people conclude that between 6-8 weeks regular antibody tests are almost 100% realible.
so, how did i come to believe my results in despite of the -almost-:
1. -almost- 100% means what? 95%? 97%? still a high number.
2. my situation was low/no risk
3. ALL of the forums i've read NONE have seen a 6 week test turn positive at 12 weeks, let alone 7 week test.
4. i don't have any medical condition that would delay seroconversion nor am i an iv drug user.
5. i had diarrhea for days and other faux "ars" symptoms, if they had REALLY been ars my test would've shown antibodies by now.
6. i don't think i'm THAT unlucky to be the only guy on ciberspace that seroconverted at week 11 after a debatable zero risk eposure.
i know official advice is to test at 3 months. i have come to believe i dont need further testing and if i do test at the 3 month mark im sure im gonna be negative. bottom line is do trust my 7 week results and i don't think i'll be posting anytime soon.
for my ocd and anxious friends:
once you get tested, everything's gonna get better, anxiety can take the best of us and surely our bodies will react. (i had a lot of ARS symptoms and i've read it's fairly common to experience some of them due to stress and axiety)
so believe the experts here, they know what they're talking about, look for help and think about the good stuff. we can take a lot from our experience other than hiv.
hope i don't need to come back to medhelp in a really long time!
You don't need to come back, you never had an exposure.
i trust you cause i believe that if you weren't sure of it you wouldn't say that to people. also because if someone had tested positive after your advice you give this site wouldnt have the reputation it has. ill still test at 8 weeks and tell you my results. for the moment ill try not to search the internet. its just driving me crazy!
You were told from the start you didn't have an exposure.
i dont know what you mean. she tested too when we started dating and she had only been sexual with her ex. im sure she wouldnt cheat on me, she was even with her family the whole time on the holidays...
i dont now what she has to do with it im asking what are the odds of catching hiv form having ejaculate from a positive person in the mouth? i heard so many opinions but so far i've come to think you and thebody are the most respectable doctors on the subject, but on thebody they answer with copy paste answers, i want to now in my case i mentioned what are the odds that he gave me hiv?'
You didn't have a risk from oral sex even if you swallowed.
Did you two test together before having unprotected sex?
i read there is a chance to get it when ejaculation is in the mouth and there are tiny cuts. i was eating chips before and sometimes they are harsh for my mouth and tongue i also was smoking a lot and my throat was irritated. i read some cases some people were positive only with oral sex (even straight ones with women!)
i dont understand how can i have given her the hiv if the oral sex was not risk?
You never had an exposure from oral sex but you did if you had unprotected sex with your girlfriend.
