drawing pin

Hi, My friend at work is always up to something, this time he put a drawing pin on my chair as a joke and i sat on it and i bled. i am sure i would not be the only person he did this to. Would there be any risk of hiv if he had done that to someone else with the same pin 5 mins earlier? Or would hiv dry immediately as it is outside its host as i read it can take several mins to dry and die? Thanks Guys

Thanks Teak you are the one that is Respected.

I love my job of working with children with mental health and making a difference in their life but this incident has made me a little phobic about blood and i sometimes question if it is something i should continue with. I need to get over this, is there anything you would recommend for future safety, i now carry gloves in my pocket as the paramedics said i should of worn gloves in the first place, but as you can imagine you dont expect this happening in a gym environment.

So it is ok to come into contact with blood as long as the skin is not damaged?

Thanks last question.

Thanks Teak,

One last question if i may,

I work in a gym and i regularly come in to contact with people bleeding by scratching themselves on machines. If some one cuts themselves on a wire from a cable machine then i touch the wire to check it, as long as i dont puncture the skin would you agree there is no risk. My worries started 2 months ago when a young girl i was training self harmed - (i work with vulnerable children) cut her wrists using a small razor and i had to deal with her without gloves and now blood may me feel a little uneasy. Is it safe to touch dry blood or get blood on you as long as there is no broken skin.

Thanks again Teak.
