elisa readings

bof
hi doc! my questions are that: when we have the results of an elisa duo test i.e with p24, we have a reading in digits which is below the cut-off value for negative results an opposite for positive results. suppose some one had a test six months after exposure and the results showed a reading of 35.5 and the cut-off is set at 40. must he get himself another test? next in the same senario suppose the results give a reading of 15, then is the test a reliable one?
thanks

There are no new strains. So you don't have to worry about that.

the kit used was an abbott elisa antibodies and antigen test. wat if there is a new strain of hiv which the routine elisa kits used are not equiped to identify? would there be some sign in the results?

No one can tell you except for the person that done the tests. You would need to know what test was used, what processed was used, what type of machine was used to even begin to give you some idea what the reading were and what they meant.

A p24 is of no use at six months. If you want a doctor to explain it you need to post in their forum. Since when are YOU responsible of reading your Duo or ELISA test results? Your not, that is why they have lab techs and doctors. That something that you don't have to worry about.
