HIV from oral sex?

I am freaking out completely .... I had (insertive) oral sex with a female sex worker (August 11) and cunnilingus with another (August 15). I wonder now: "what was I thinking?" No sores or blood present as far as I remember, but who knows? August 22, I test negative with the Duo HIV test. August 26 (day I returned tired and stressed out from a long trip through various airports) I get a small canker sore on my lower front left gum, sore throat (mostly on the left side of the throat) and malaise. No fever, rash, or swollen lymph nodes (except a slightly swollen lymph node on the side of the canker sore). Next day I have some congestion. August 29 (today) symptoms subside but not completely yet, and I test negative with oral HIV 1,2 antibody test. I think that I am going through acute HIV infection. I have a wife and a baby whom I love dearly and realized that I might have destroyed my life and their life.
I am completely depressed, unable to eat, or sleep, and weeping from time to time like a kid. My blood perssure is unusually high. Tomorrow morning I will have an RNA test for viral load and get the results in 48 hours.
Any encouraging words would be very welcome to get me through the next hours. Thank you.

I received oral more than 100 times from my ex who was HIV POS the whole time.  I did not know it until she cheated on me and I had her tested.

I have tested HIV negative for more that 8 months since I left her. Seroconversion takes place at 6 weeks to 3 months post exposure. I am conclusively negative.
Tests included
All you can think of =)
Cost me roughly $2,300 usd total
22 tests total

Take care, oral sex is extremely safe

And MOVE ON!!!!

My HIV DNA test came back negative! Happiest day in my life. I can't thank you enough for your support. I only hope you realize how important is what you do here and give enough credit to yourself!

At this moment I would like to ask a question that has been going on in my mind all this time. In Medhelp (and aidsmeds), both experts and non-experts do discount or even reject oral sex as a possible route for hiv transmission. This is certainly not a universal attitude on the internet. Other experts online warn that there is some risk that can be even masked by the fact that people who engage in oral they also engage in other forms of unprotected sex. There are also testimonials of people who say that they contracted HIV through oral alone. Common sense implies that at least a percentage of these people are honest. Therefore, oral is indeed a route for transmission and not only theoretical. If that is the case, I cannot explain that nobody has come up to the medhelp to say: "Hey you guys are simply wrong. look at me I got it from oral, so I really do not care if you are saying that there is no confirmed case... My case is confirmed enough for me!".

Apart from that, I do realize the nature of small numbers: for a given instance, for a given person, a small chance, say 1 in 50,000 effectively equals zero. If you say to an anxious and worried-to-death person that this chance equals low risk, this person still maintains an unrealistic view of what's going on. He/she feels as if there is up to a 50% chance to hit that 1/50,000 possibility! It is all psycological, it was like that for me and so for many other people who may find themselves in this situation (surely the guilt of a bad choice amplifies that effect by a big factor). If on the other hand, this person is made to believe that the chance is exactly zero then the person's emotional reaction is more proportional to the actual 1/50,000 risk!

Again, many heartfelt thanks.

ARS symptoms usually appear 2 to 4 weeks after infection and last about 2 weeks. They don,t come and go.Also they are very high fever very sore throat and rash on trunk-torso and limbs.

Thank you. I will get back with the results.
Related question if I may:
After the second day the symptoms are mainly congestion and running nose (and the small canker sore). I have read that this is not usually the clinical picture of ARS. Is that true?
(I understand of course that it is not possible to diagnose or rule out ARS from symptoms alone)

You are so kind to reply to my post. You give me much hope. Given the information on the internet (posts, studies etc.) and my doctor's view (he thinks there is small risk), it is hard for me not to worry very much. I will go ahead and do the RNA test keeping in mind that false positives are not impossible. There is so much pain in the world, and I wish to try to help people more from now on. I am humbled by the experience. I also feel a lot of shame because in the past I have been through the same story, in fact I had gotten a false positive, and after things cleared, I made promises I failed to keep once much time went by and impressions had faded. I strongly feel that I do not deserve a second chance, although my rational mind says that feelings have nothing to do with this.
Again, my deepest thanks.

You never had a risk from the oral sex encounters and no testing is required for this.Your symptoms are related to some other condition, but have nothing to do with hiv. Also that test your having-RNA is not used for diagnostic purposes but rather to monitor hiv patients viral loads. You can stop worrying about hiv and test for other more common STD,s.All the best.
