If it slips while pulling I can not understand where the risk is
HIV needs blood to transfer
Let wait teak
The likelihood that "Michelle" had HIV is not high.
You should contact your doctor to see if he/she thinks this potential exposure is high enough to warrent PEP--more than likely, not.
Then you will have to begin the waiting game. Testing 4-6 weeks will (should) give you some good peace of mind, but after this exposure, you will have to wait a full 3 months (longer if you take PEP) to get a conclusive result.
The chances are good that this one exposure will not result in you contracting HIV. However, it does not mean you should dismiss it entirely. You should be properly tested, and get a DOCTORS opinion whether you need PEP or not.
Can you contact "Michelle" and see if she's been tested recently?
ok...you do know that in order to be infected with the hiv virus from having anal sex with "michelle"...that she HAS TO HAVE IT?????? it does not just appear out of thin air.
if "michelle" does NOT have hiv...then you can have anal sex (ouch) all you want.
the end.....................................
okay i understanding the difference between HIV and AIDS now. can you give me advise on the questions please?
Sorry, if you do not the difference between HIv and AIDS, you should not have sex. Period.
man get a life we here dont know michelle and no dont test but wait
i always say test just to know your status !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
no michelle is not infected by HIV does that mean there is no way i could get HIV/ AIDS then? so should i wait for 3 months to get tested? and do you recon a health clinic could give us any PEP???
Here goes...
First, I need to clear up the difference between HIV and AIDS.
HIV is a virus that infects the body. The virus weakens the immune system (the system your body has in place to fight infection) and particularly if left untreated, can weaken your immune system enough to result in a disease known as AIDS. It takes many years for HIV to result in the formation of AIDS.
Now, in order to get HIV, first you need to have sex with someone who is HIV positive. This means that the person is infected with the virus. If neither yoursel for Michelle are HIV positive, then neither of you posed a risk to the other (think about it, HIV is a virus that is passed from one person to another... if neither of you have it, then nothing can be passed to the other person). HIV does not spontaneously appear while two people are having sex, one person needs to have it in order to give it to the other.
If you do not know whether or not Michelle is infected, anal sex is considered high risk category of sexual activity for getting HIV. There is a treatment known as post-exposure prophalaxysis (PEP) that has been shown to greatly reduce the transmission risk for getting HIV. It is more effective the sooner it is started, but must be started within 72 hours. The sooner you start it the more likely it will work. It is not available in all places, however, but you could try to see if your local emergency room or your family physician can treat you OR refer you to a place where you can get treated. In your case, you would probably qualify for PEP since you engaged in a high risk activity.
Again, if Michelle did not have HIV, then there is no way you can get it.
You will need to do HIV testing, however. I am not particularly familliar with testing procedure when under PEP, but I am sure another member can enlighten you.
is michelle positive? if so you are at risk. if not, no problem. if you dont know have a 3 month test. dont know if your local e.r. would give pep in this situation, it must be started within 72 hours.
