in need of medical advice

hi,

i work as a photojournalist, while working in the field about hiv transmission in europe i had an incident with a hiv + individual who punched my face - puncturing my cheek with some blood coming out. although i'm aware that hiv is transmitted in various ways, i didn't put too much thought on whether i would get infected from a situation like this.
this was 9 months ago. when the thought hit me if there was a transmission during this event or not i decided to get tested.

i'm currently working in prague / czech republic. i went to a pharmacy and bought the oraquick saliva test. the result was negative. later on went to a clinic and tested for hiv. there was no name on the test, the result just said ''hiv combo test'' ''negative''

i'm wondering if any ''combo'' test for my situation is conclusive or should i get another sort of test?

The combo is conclusive anytime after 4 WEEKS. 9 MONTHS is conclusive for ANY TEST YOU TAKE. 8 weeks is even conclusive for pretty much ANY test you take.

Some of the contributors are directly involved with HIV. Some have it, others have family who do.

The answers you are receiving are legitimate. If you can't accept them, then we can't help. Keep on worrying over something that carries no risk to you and ruin the next few months of your life over nothing. Stop worrying your life away.

In adults, HIV is transmitted by:

Unprotected Anal/Vaginal Sex
Sharing IV drug equipment
Direct blood contact as in infected blood transfusions.

Uses condoms for vaginal and anal sex, and you will avoid HIV infection.

thanks for your reply. but isn't it somehow possible that there would be a transmission with a wound on my face. actually what i wonder is how conclusive this combo test is at 9 months since my exposure isn't related to anything sexual or sharing needles and so on..

also don't get me wrong but i see in this forum people that aren't even from the field of medicine but still replying to questions as if they have seen 100s of cases..

No, you're 100% HIV negative from that incident. You did not have a risk in the first place. Anyway, a conclusive result is 3 months past exposure with the OraQuick. You tested at 9 months, twice negative. You're fine. Believe your results.
