I am getting the duo 4th generation test on the 19th of March so fingers crossed, how long do those results take? If they are not in by the 31st should I still go back for the 2nd antibody test that day? Sorry for all the questions just have no-on To talk to..Feeling better this week still persistent headache tho!
Your symptoms are not related to HIV. Photophobia can be caused by a multitude of conditions but not by HIV
Hiya
what is nat?? Also has anyone experienced sensitivity to light in the window period?? As in Can't even look at the sky??
thanks for any info, this is the worse feeling ever! Plus swollen tonsils since yesterday possible white marks?
Duo is conclusive after 4 weeks
Nat 12 or 14 days
If u have enough money for nat then go for it
Gl
thanks for the input :)
i am trying not to think about it but its proving hard lol
I am still hopeful things will turn out well, i will try my own GP in 10 days for a duo test if he does them
Yes 16 days is way too early. Another two weeks though and a HIV DUO test can be taken. If you cannot get tested with this in your area you will have to wait around the 6 to 8 week mark. Many countries recommend 12 weeks but most experts see that as unnecessary. Try not to worry too much. The likelihood of you having HIV is low.
sorry i got the test names mixed up it was not a Rna test it was a antibody test but too early at 16 days, Im trying to figure out if Doctors in Ireland do the 4th generation test but I am not having much luck finding out online. Unfortunately Belfast would not be an option for me as I am at the opposite end of the Country. I really hope that it is anxiety causing this, everything else cud be put down to anxiety except the lymh nodes, headaches and swollen tonsils since today. There is definitely some sort of infection just hope it is not Hiv, allthough it does'nt look great for me at the moment adding everything upIt may seem paranoid but when you add all things up its usually the most obvious thing.
You've already had a negative RNA test. Whilst not as conclusive as a HIV Duo Test the odds you have HIV is extremely low. I'm not sure what the testing arrangements are in the Republic however they do offer this test in Belfast. I think your symptoms are anxiety driven - even anxiety and stress can make you more susceptible to other harmless viruses and infections hence accounting for your swollen lymph glands.
hi thanx for the reply
I am looking into if duo tests are done by Doctors in Ireland. I don not want to wait another 4 weeks if possible
hi thanx for the reply
I would totally agree with you about the stress, except for the headache and swollen lymh nodes, I am not imagining them plus swollen tonsils today Mostly I just do not feel myself this has been going on since last week, I am at just under 3 weeks post incident which would fit in terms of timing of ars. I would be thrilled if this is unneccesary worry or paranoia but it can happen to anyone and I am genuinely worried. Could anyone advise do Doctors in Ireland do 4th generation duo tests at 28 days?
Thnk you
hi thanks for the reply
it was unprotected intercourse with a male unknown status
I think I have an extra risk because I have BV, and I also heard a rumour that he was Bisexual which I did not know. So I reckon thats 2 extra strikes against me , i thought I was fine since yesterday but today the headache is still there maybe a bit worse, and now i also have swollen tonsils, although my appetite is back since yesterday. I know these symptoms can also point to mono or glandular fever but what are the chances of it being that when i had the risk of unprotected sex? it does not look good for me, feeling quite down today
Irishlass you need to relax. Your symptoms are stress related. I appreciate you are worried but you need to try and put it to the back of your mind. Get tested 30 days post exposure with a HIV 4th gen DUO test. The result will be conclusive. 16 days is too soon
Hi there,
About ARS symptoms, I really like this article from Dr Tan: http://www.drtanandpartners.com/more-on-hiv-symptoms/
Symptoms are not helpful to diagnose HIV as you may know.
A 16 days test is way too soon I am afraid. It is always good to have a negative result but as Insbiz suggested, get retested at 28 days with a 4th generation test.
What was your exposure if you don't mind sharing?
Hi better wait to do a combo test 4th gen 28-30 days post exposure.
