Some doctors haven't studied HIV in 13 years, so they could still be misinformed. This case is a perfect example. If you talk to an Infectious Disease Doctor, they would tell you differently. The good thing is you don't have to worry anyways.
Its in York, United Kingdom. The private clinic I spoke to is in London, United Kingdom (www.freedomhealth.co.uk)
where is your clinic located?
Cool thanks. I just don't get it because the female doctor I saw at the clinic said "nothing would show up at 5 weeks so I will have to wait till 12 weeks", but I practically had to force her to give me a blood test and urine sample there and then! The silly cow! I've been on forums, spoke to my GP and a private sex clinic and they all say most people show up HIV+ within first 6 weeks so don't know what the hell she was on about! If shes doing this to every person with a low risk like mine then there must be some pretty anxious people out there!
In your situation it was a very good indicator...remember more than 90% of people that are infected will show+ on a test by this time. your ok.
Also, this pain and aches in my muscles - Would 9.5 weeks after the risk be too late to seroconvert?
yeah I will take to kill all anxiety. Thanks everybody. Was the test I had at 34 days useless or a good indicator of what the 12 week result may be? I read somewere that most people are positive by 4 weeks?
you will be happy with the test result. However, you really don't need to take it...but like LIZZIE LOU said, if it will end the anxiety then do it...you will be happy, trust me.
i have a 12 week test booked, obviously i am a little worried still otherwise i wouldnt be posting this question. After reading all the facts regarding hiv i am now more confident about my risk thats all.
anxiety can cause you to have muscle aches from just being "tense" all the time.
even though you do not need to...if it will help put a end to all of this...then by all means test.
expect a negative result...protected sex means protected sex :)
test again! only because you say your confident "I say you are obviously still scared" a test now would be conclusive for your case.
