worried about HIV

Hi,
I had sex with sex worker last august. I always had protected sex. in October 28th I had loose motions for 3 days. Then 4 nov I faced sore throat followed by cough. There is rash on my back at left side. There are some dark spots. I went to doctor and he concluded it is due to fungal infection. Sometimes I noticed white layer on my tong. I am really worried about HIV infection. I do not understand what to do. I never had lymph enlargement. No night sweats. In last month I had cold twice. Can somebody help me on this.

Well that is comforning. However, if I, as someone who never visited a doctor, experience: rash, white tongue, memory and hair loss, fever, night sweats, red spots on the chest, diarrhea and so on, cannot see what else it can be than HIV. And yes, I had UTI that started just after sex and last for few days. Oh and I have almost forgotten, I had open sore for two days (I suspect for LGV)

Notsoimportant:  It is, in fact, coincidence.  We see hundreds of questions every week, and a vast majority of the questions are about no-risk activities such as yours.  And, almost every person believes they are having "symptoms" of HIV.  No one gets HIV from having sex with an intact condom.  NO ONE.

Whatever you are experiencing - both of you - it is not HIV.

My symptoms occur in 2-3-4 days. It is not that they all shown in one day, but not week by week. I would say something between.

Chima7, I had protected sex too but how it can be a big cooncidence. Its not likely..

You had zero risk of HIV with protected sex. That's why it's called Protected Sex because you are protected by the condom. Your symptoms have nothing to do with HIV and are totally irrelevant. Because you had zero risk you do not require any HIV testing for this.

I have some brown spots and other symptoms too. I hope I got fungal infection only.

I will wait few weeks and take a test. When are you going to take it? Post your results please.

did u face other symptoms all together or at gap of 4-7 days?

If you were protected during intercourse, as you say you always were, you never had a risk and your symptoms are not related to HIV.

You don't need to get tested.

Cold is not a symptom - flu is.

Did your doctor suggested you to take a test? Protected sex is protected, but testing is recommended because you had a sex with unknown person and you don't know her status.

How your dark spots look like?

I had brown spots like small circle of 5-10mm on my left side of back. When I see doctor he said it is fungal infection. same time I was having sore thought & followed by dry cough. I had flu but never had high temperature flu. Doctor did not suggested me any test. I would now go for home test kit and get tested.

Hi there, protected sex is as it is, you are protected as long as the condom was intact. I would advise you to still go for an HIV test. At this point, your test woul be conclusive.
