Premium increases
Hi - a quick question. Is it normal for premiums to raise when you reach 40 or 55, and if it is, does this happen for both men and women or just women?

Dear crwstar,
Except for New York residents where they have community rating (which means everyone pays the same price regardless of age or gender), age is factored in to calculate the rates of Individual & Family health insurance plans. To include the age factor some carriers use 5 years age bands. In other words in addition to your annual rate increase on your health plan, every 5 years you may get another rate increase for moving into a higher age bracket.
This holds true for any gender.
