Hi, welcome to the hearing loss community.

Google cochlear baha. They are approved for single-sided deafness, and many people say that they love their baha. Basically it would send the sound from the bad side over to the good side, so you do not miss out on so much.

CROS hearing aids are another possibility, but they are usually not much help for a deaf person--better if you have a moderate-severe hearing loss.

Cochlear implants are great, but no insurance company covers them for single-sided deafness, as far as I know. You can call your insurance company to check. Of course, if you have sixty grand or so lying around, you do not need to worry about that. :)

My dad is deaf in one ear, so I have some idea of how this affects everyday life. It can be pretty tough.

Anyway, take care. Come back and see us again.

Hi!
If there is profound deafness or it is profound sensorineural hearing loss, then cochlear implants help. However, if there in mixed conducting and sensorineural hearing loss then either a chochlear implant or hearing aid or a combination of both treatments may help. At times the internal ear is re-constructed to help in conduction of sound. You will need to discuss this with an audiologist and ENT surgeon. Take care!
