17% ep

I was just recently diagnosed after a thalium stress test which I passed with a 17% ep..on the left anterior descending, I had a quadrupple bypass back in 1992, My doctors recommends an angio plasty with stent or a rebypass using the external part of my mamary vien.  I could not afford such a procedure now.  I am on maintenance medication .. I want to know if there is an alternative way i could improve my condition till such time I can afford to have one..

What does 17% ep mean? Strange why you are given the option of stent or bypass by your doctor?  Usually, if a stent can be effective to ameliorate your cardiovascular issue, then a stent...what is the issue...shortness of breath, angina pectoris (chest pain), fatgue, etc.? Also considerastion can be your health history, concomitant health issues, etc.

If medication is effective in opening your coronary vessels (evidenced by relief of symptoms, usually chest pain), then medication can be the best option.  I have been on medication for going on 8 years and there has been no advancement of occluded vessels.  My condition is ischemia (vessel blockage) and with proper diet, exercise, medication my condition is without symptoms and no advancement.

Hope this helps, thanks for sharing and if you have any further questions or comments you are welcome to respond.  Take care,

Ken
