EKG shows possible left atrial enlargement

Hello, 58 year old female.  Eat healthy, non smoker, non drinker.  (I have occasional hypertension but nothing over 140/85 when stressed.  My normal is 120/80.)  I had a physical in Jan.  All numbers excellent.  Had an EKG, echo, nuclear stress test...all went well.  No abnormalities. (All my past EKG's, etc have been excellent..in fact, I have been told they look picture perfect.)
In March started having PVC's.  Did an EKG and showed possible left atrium enlargement.  Did an echo and all looked well.
Had another EKG today 4 months later, and it still shows humped P-wave which indicates possible left atrial enlargement.  Scheduled for an echo in a week.  Dr. not concerned.  BP was 114/72 today.  Still have occasional PVC's.  Could that be causing the "left atrial enlargement"?

I am so nervous.   My EKG's have always been normal.  Why might this be happening?

My ECG was normal, my Echo showed enlarged left atrium.  I am having Echo redone Monday for second time to double check.  From what I was told ECHO and MRI are the only ways to see the left atrium.  Take Care

Hi Ks,

Till now only abnormal P-waves are found, which can indicate atrial enlargement, but does not need to be.
Often, abnormal P-waves are often considered non-specific, labile and of no prognostic value.

Do not stare yourself blind on these P-wave humps.
Your latest echo's showed you were just fine, without atrium enlargement, even when there was a abnormality in P-wave. I see no reason why you should assume that your left atrium would be enlarged now.
Occasional PVC's are normally no problem and do not cause atrial enlargement.

I expect that your echo will again be just fine.
