Much depends on how high your numbers are as to what action to take. If you are prehypertensive with a number over 120/80 but below 140/90 you can manage your BP with some simple things like cutting down on salt and losing weight. Most importantly, get some exercise on each and every day of the week. Exercise is a great way to manage BP as if causes your heart to beat harder to meet the needs of your large muscle groups and opens small arteries that supply the muscle. This repeated action helps your arteries remain flexible and healthy which will help control your BP, but always check with a doctor before starting any new exercise program.

Look to cut soda out of your diet as well as it contains a huge amount of salt as do most processed foods. Look at the DASH diet which was designed by the National Institute of Health to manage BP. Just Google "Dash Diet".

Hope this helps,

Jon
