CONCENTRIC LVH

Sir,

I am 33 years old. My Blood Pressure is 120/80mm/hg. But i usually feel chest pain & if i ran for some distance i feel breathlessness. I do echo & the impressions are :

1. CONCENTRIC LVH
2. NO RWMA
3.GOOD LV FUNCTION

Sometimes i feel severe joint pains in both hands & legs. Please Advice.

Concentric LVH means that all of the ventricular walls are affected and thickened. You really shouldn't be running as you could develop a cardiac arrhythmia which could cause a sudden death event. You need to be evaluated at a good hospital where they have knowledge of this rarer form of Left Ventricular Hypertrophy. Your family should also be screened to see if they have this disease. My daughter had Concentric LVH and had a transplant 11 years ago.

It would help to know the degree of your LVH, did they give you a measurement of the septal wall on your echo report?

Everything else looks good.
