Can a plant-based diet eliminate the need for meds?

6 months ago I had a 99% blockage. I had a stent put in and have returned to a very active lifestyle. I spent the last 6 months learning about whole food/plant-based nutrition. I have excellent bp, cholesterol = 37, and have never had medical issues. I would like to challenge the concept of "on meds for the rest of your life". The studies I have read (The China Study, Blue Zones, How Not To Die, and Dr. Dean Ornish's UnDo It) indicate diet/nutrition is a better solution than a lifetime of statin? Thoughts?
