Q:Aortic root at Sinus of vasalva 4.7cm
>>>>>By conventional measurements your aortic root is dilated. If and when the aorta root is >4 cm, it is medically termed an aneurysm and should be closely watched. If the diameter size increases to >5.0 and/or grows more than 0.5 cm in year, the need for intervention my be considered to prevent a rupture. Do you have a previous reading of the root?
Thanks for your question, and if you have any further questions or comments you are welcome to respond. Take care,
Ken
Traditionally, the normal refererence range for the aortic root diamater is between 2.0-3.7 cm. Your MRI report would suggest that there is some dilation of your Ao root. As this MRI was ordered for some reason, I would be sure to discuss these findings with your physician at your follow-up appointment.
