Digitek

Hi, I have SVT and have been reading post for the last couple of hours. Which by the way have made me feel so much better. My Dr. has me on Digitek twice a day and I noticed that I did'nt see anyone else mention that they were on Digitek. Is this a normal drug for this condition?

CHF usually, it makes the heart beat stronger... It also slows down conduction between the atria and ventricles and is also used for afib a-flutter and atrial tach.. His syncope could have been caused be bradycardia..What kind of svt do you have christie? did your doctor mention anything about rapid ventricular response?

I wore a heart  monitor for 24 hours and it reported a heart rate of 320 beets per minute for 18 minutes. Once this started for me it has just gotten worse. More episodes and they last longer.

I dont know what afib is. Yes, I was dizzy sweaty head spinning, I felt like my heart was going to pop out of my chest. I'm not very educated in all of this. I'm just now starting to read about it. I kept thinking I would take a pill and be fine, when the meds didnt help that much I started reading about it.

Is digitek digoxin? Are your svt attacks really long and frequent? My doc has put me on a very low dose beta blocker only for my SVT

I have never heard of anyone who has svt and is being treated with digitek. If your svts are long and often does your doc not want you to consider an ablation? My doc told me that the drugs usually given for svt are calcium chanel blockers or beta blockers.

Kit, in short, ya lol

this isnt an uncommon drug for afib, but obviously your doctor had a reason for prescribing it.. Did he give you samples or did he write out a prescription??

Also.. is it working? lol

He wrote a script, and I guess it is working. I still have alot of palpatations that last for hours on and off. Im also so tired I just lay on the couch for the entire day. Im new at this so not sure what is going on with me. I just know it is scary and Dr. not to concerned.

Interesting.
Thanks Collegegirl. You know, my mother told me that her father was on digitalis the entire time she was growing up. He lived to be 87, so whatever it was prescribed for it didn't cut his life expectancy any. He far outlived his peers (he was born in 1876) and probably longer than men live now too.
All she recalls is that he had constant syncope, but my mom has no idea which came first the med or the fainting.
Can you list what the usual indications for prescribing Digitek/Digoxin are ?
