Heavynes in left chest

I am a 49 year old male ex smoker.  Over the past several months I have been having a heavy feeling in my left chest that comes and goes.  In the beginning I would go to sit down and I would feel my heart like beat extra.  That has stoped, but now I get this heavy feeling when I go to sit down sometimes.  I also have some discomfort on the left side of my back.  I am not short of breath.  My wife and I take walks every night and I have no problem.  I had a chest xray, ekg, and several blood test all which came out normal.  One other symptom I seem to have a discomfort in my throat.  That may or may not be related.  Tommorrow I am having a CT scan of my throat and chest.  I am not sure were to turn if this turns out ok.  I am tempeted to go the ER becasue everyone thinks it is in my head.

It's not in your head Grin! You need to take it seriously to make sure nothing is going on, and act quickly before you get heart damage. None of the tests you mentioned are gonna detect anything, the only test you need to demand is a Cardiac catheterization (cardiac cath or heart cath) is a procedure to examine how well your heart is working. A thin, hollow tube called a catheter is inserted into a large blood vessel that leads to your heart. They never give you the test unless your in a really bad way or dying, so you better be vigilante in your request! For your sake I hope my suspicions are wrong... I had to suffer for years not knowing because they kept telling me it's all in my head, then the cath revealed I had extensive cardiovascular disease! Stents would not suffice in my case which is a quick painless procedure, and you leave the hospital same day. I had to do open heart surgery, and I almost died 4 days after in recover, I just didn't have the strength or will to go on. By some weird twist of fate I guess I made it home, and here I stumbled accidentally to share my story, and hopefully help a stranger in need. Your never the same after surgery, and I feel I don't have long. Hard to recover from something like that when your struggling for resources like I am. Wish you the best, Merry Christmas!
