How do I know when skipped heart beats are dangerous?

Over a week ago for absolutely no identifiable reason my heart started skipping way more beats than usual.  I can go hours with none and then have several hours where I'll have 2 or 3 a minute.  It's setting me over the edge.  I don't know if it's dangerous or not.  I went to the ER the other day and they basically didn't care at all and just had me take Ativan and sent me home.  Today I panicked and called the paramedics who came and did a 12 lead and they said normal sinus with one ectopic and so I didn't go back to the ER.  I had a normal echo 3 years ago.  I already don't eat caffeine or sugar.

Please reassure or sympathize with me.  I'm going insane and have no idea what's causing this out of the blue.  Why would they suddenly increase for no reason whatsoever?

Similar symptoms. It's a long shot but have your Dr. look at your EKG for Wolfe-Parkison's White Syndrome

This is an old thread, but if you take an antibiotic , even if you do need a root canal the infection will go away temporarily. You can have the dentist do a vitality test to see if the nerve is dead and causing infection. I have 12 years as a dental assistant, this is what I would recommend.

I've suffered with racing heart/skipped heart beats for 34 years.  I had a heart ablation procedure approximately 4 years ago.  It was a life-changing event for me.  I had been stifled in most activities but now I feel FREE!!!  I had to beg the doctor to do it and finally he agreed.  I'm so thankful!    However, I am now starting to get a whole lot of days with the "skipped" beats.  They are constant, annoying, and scary. But, the heart racing with tremendous force with each beat is still gone (yay!).  Maybe someday I will get ablation again.  It is extremely expensive for it is surgery so I'll probably have to endure the pesty problem for now.
