Is anyone under 30 with heart failure (treated but still there for life)?

I suddenly found it so hard to breathe one day. I am 28 and the doctors thought I had pneumonia, when in fact I had 18% LVF and on deaths door! But they finally found out via a scan that it was heart failure and I was given meds and I'm now doing great, but on higher doses. My heart functions back to normal now but I can't help but wonder if anyone else as young as me has this problem? Seems so unfair, considering I'm not that unhealthy to be deserving this.

:)

Hiya, no it's not related but I am unable to have children anyway. I recently found out tho, that due to having contracted toxoplasmosis, it may be that which caused my heart to fail with no reason, hence why I've made such a good recovery...
Toxoplasmosis is dormant but can affect the heart, lungs, eyes etc. I think my heart may have been damaged temporarily due to this, but I'm still unsure. I need to see and ask my cardiologist.

Thanks for your reply tho :)

Yep.  More people than you would think.  No one "deserves" heart failure.  Heart disease doesn't discriminate.  I think you are incredibly fortunate to have regained normal heart function, and I wish you the best.  I do understand how frustrating it is to go through such a serious health problem when you're so very young, but your recovery is a really positive sign.  Is your heart failure pregnancy-related?

I have a friend who in her late 20's found out she has heart failure. She's on meds, has an ICD. She's doing quite well. Just had her ICD replaced recently due to low battery. With meds and the ICD she's able to travel and get into some mischief as any younger person would like to do (within reason of course). How long will she live? Who knows? I don't know how long I'll keep on ticking either but being around her certainly brightens my day. Always a smile and lots of laughter.
