Heart health 5 yr old - LVH

When my son was 3 yrs old (2 yrs ago), he had an ekg because I had WPW at one time so they were screening him. He showed potential LVH and had an echo and appt with cardiologist. It turned out he was fine and didn't have it.

Flash forward 2 yrs later...he was outside for 20 mins and after coming inside passed out. It was over 100+ degrees outside and he could potentially be fighting a virus although we arent sure he just said his stomach hurt and his infant brother had a fever/stomach issues too over the last few days so they probably are passing it around.

Anyway, we took him to the doctor immediately and they ordered an ekg which said borderline LVH. Should we be worried and go through all of this again? Would the results of echo change from 2 yrs ago? At this point we are worried and scheduling with cardiologist but we went through all of this 2 yrs ago. He has passed out 2 other times throughout the yrs but they were both due to injuries and seeing his own blood...something my wife and i also do. If anyone can provide any insight it would be much appreciated.

Already have the results of the echo - Normal!!!

So he is giving a false positive on the test and we know that is normal for him. Also, for other in this situation, after reading the medical research on this topic there is a 50%-100% false positive rate for identifying LVH on an ekg...

Ok, an update. Our pediatrician said that EKG this time and from 2 yrs ago is exactly the same and that since he had an echo 2 yrs ago its more than likely ok. He said he is not sure the cardio would even order another echo but just to be safe he is getting one tomorrow to be 100% sure. He said more than likely he passed out from the heat/dehydration/sick. So we feel a little better but really want to see the results of this echo to be sure and also are still meeting with cardiologist at the end of august. Now we will have to wait through the weekend for the results...

Although it was hot, passing out is not normal.
It probably is nothing serious, but it is best to check it out.

EKG's are often not very specific, so the conclusion of borderline LVH could very well be incorrect (again).
An new echo will make it clear.

Echo results can of course change in 2 years time, but it is way to soon to worry about that.
