My AFIB Story

In 2012, I was diagnosed with AFIB. Logging nearly 100 miles per week on my bicycle, I lived a healthy lifestyle, and I never thought i would suffer from heart problems. But after suffering from extreme fatigue, I visited my primary doctor, and I was diagnosed with AFIB.

The diagnosis came as a big surprise to me. Dr. Saumil Oza at St. Vincent's in Jacksonville discussed multiple treatment options with me, but we decided on a procedure called catheter ablation. With up to an 80 percent success rate, cardiac ablation was the best option for my situation.

The procedure was a success and today, I am back on my bicycle, and no longer suffer from AFIB. I cannot thank Dr. Oza, St. Vincents, and Biosense Webster enough for giving me my life back, and taking the time to answer all of my questions about cardiac ablation.

http://www.myfastheartbeatjax.com/ is a great way to learn more about cardiac ablation and AFIB, and read more stories like mine.

It's so wonderful to read of another patient free of the burden of Atrial Fibrillation. My husband was cured of his A-Fib in 1998 by catheter ablation performed in Bordeaux, France (where they invented the procedure). Readers may want to visit our non-profit patient education website, 'Atrial Fibrillation: Resources for Patients', at www.A-Fib.com. Loads of information on a-fib and treatment options. Visit our Personal Experiences section for over 70 stories of A-Fib patients who beat their A-Fib.
