Myocardial Perfusion Imaging 1-Day Exercise Gated SPECT 99mTC Cardiolite Protocol

Can some explain in English what this real means? Is this just something to check up on annual or do I need to ask more questions? The patient's pre-procedure interview revealed no chest pain. The resting ECG revealed sinus rhythm. The patient experienced no clinical chest pain during the procedure. During stress, the electrocardiogram did not show ST-Segment changes diagnostic for ischemia. Stress image reveal a medium sized perfusion abnormality of mild to moderate intensity in the inferolateral wall that was predominantly reversible when compared to rest images. Gated SPECT revealed normal left ventricular function with an ejections fraction of 58%. Wall motion analysis revealed normal contractility in all myocardial segments. EF greater than 55%, There is mild concentric left ventricular hypertrophy. The diastolic filling pattern indicates impaired relaxation. There is a trace mitral regurgitation.

So a few things.

The diastolic filling pattern indicates impaired relaxation- simply means your heart is a little stiff and doesn't fill as easily after each beat, called diastolic dysfunction and is fairly common.

There is mild concentric left ventricular hypertrophy- This means the walls of your left ventricle are a little thick, again fairly common, Could be the result of chronic high blood pressure.

Stress image reveal a medium sized perfusion abnormality of mild to moderate intensity- could indicate that this area was not getting a good blood flow during exercise, you should get more information from the doctor when you discuss your results as this may be a non-issue as well.

EF greater than 55%- this is normal.

the electrocardiogram did not show ST-Segment changes diagnostic- this means your EKG did not change, this is a good thing.

I am not a doctor, just related from my experiences so please ask your doctor to answer any questions you have. Good luck!
