Origin of VSD

Hello, I'm 20 yr old female.I suffered from Ventricular Septum Defect from birth.I had two surgeries; first at age of 2(narrowing of the aorta) and second at age of 6(closure of multiple holes on the septum).I am now leading a healthy life. There is no such disease in my family, neither from my parents nor grand parents.I would like to know the origin of this disease.I would like to know of any existing test that will be able to reveal its origin.Thank you very much.

Usually congental and if there are any tests it would be an analysis of your DNA to identify the defective gene. Over the past 15 years, breakthroughs in basic science have revealed the genetic etiology for several inherited cardiovascular diseases, but I am not aware.  test available include hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM, heart muscle disorder) and gained valuable insight into critical molecular pathways involved in cardiac remodeling, inherited susceptibility to sudden cardiac death (SCD), and arrhythmias
