Perfusion report

Please help to explain the following, thank you

Stress and rest tomographic imaging with Tc-99m tetrofosmin revealed a small area of mild to moderate stress perfusion defect at the apical wall that was partically reversible at rest. The amount of ischaemia was mild
The stress defect representated 2%of the left ventrical by polar map quantisation. Gated SPECT showed normal wall motion LVEF 62% LVEDV 84ml

If your doctor did not ask for further tests, this may have been a false positive, possibly due to soft tissue attenuation. You should make him clarify for you, but my guess is if he felt there was an issue he would have ordered more tests.

Good luck!

There are two concerns regarding a nuclear stress test involves an actual narrowing or scarring, i.e., the findings of reversible (ischemia) or non-reversible (fixed, permanent, scar tissue) perfusion (blood flow) defects.

When images return to normal at rest, this indicates there is no permanent injury to the heart muscle. Reversible perfusion defect is an area of the heart muscle that does not receive an adequate amount of blood at stress (ischemia) but does so at rest (reversible ischemia) which is caused by one or more narrowed or restenotic (renarrowed) coronary arteries or bypass grafts.

You should meet with your doctor or cardiologist to go over the results. Did they recommend further tests or treatments? This could also be a false positive. Your LVED is very good at 62% and  the other good news is that there was normal wall motion. Again, you need more information from your doctor.

Hope this helps,

Jon
