Plaque buildup within 4 months of CABG surgery. Is it possible?

My mom is 63 years old and had angina in May. She underwent CABG in June this year. She is recovering well from the surgery. But for the last couple of weeks she was having angina again and last Thursday she had severe pain with sweating. She was rushed to the hospital and after another angiogram the doctors say she needs to undergo angioplasty again with 2 stents this time. We are all confused as to how this could happen? My questions are as follows:
1) Did doctors miss this one when they did the angiograms and the subsequent CABG in May?
I doubt it because we had angiograms by two different doctors at two different hospitals.
2) The main question that is baffling us is how could she develop another block wthin such a short period of time? Is this possible at all? If this is possible, do we have to keep checking her up every few months?

Please advise. We are really worried.

Thanks in advance

Something is causing the disease. How long has her diet been healthy? Does she smoke? Does she have normal blood pressure? Does she suffer anxiety?

Hi ed34,

Thank you for your quick response. My mom is a strict vegetarian - no meat at all..not even eggs.

We switched to 2% fat milk as well. As far as I know she is following a strict non fat diet as well( she is in India and I am in the US - so i trust her when she says she is following strict non fat diet::))

Since she is still recovering from her CABG surgery, she doesnt want to go through another surgery. So they are doing angioplasty and putting 2 more stents. Hoping and praying to GOD she will recover soon.

oh yes is certainly is very possible. Actually it can happen in a shorter period than 4 months. There are a number of things to watch for in her diet. Eat as much white meat as your like, red meat you can eat once a week but I would have a break from it for 3 months first. Red meat and salt are the only 2 things I would keep a very close eye on. It has been over a year since my last attack and I have removed red meat from my diet. I am actually starting to feel the best I have in years again.
