Post Bypass surgery complication - intermittent Coma

Hi All

Post Bypass surgery last year my dad gets into coma/unconscious state for few seconds in particular posture or so to say when he changes his posture suddenly.

This happens quite regularly. Neuro & cardiologists have asked us to do multiple tests but all tests are normal so doctor says that he has to do exercise for his calves muscle as they are need to be most stronger to pump the blood.

He has been doing that but this has not helped him.

Can someone guide me as to how to take it further

Regards
Seemant

i have a friend who had a quadruple bypass two weeks ago and is extremely confused. The confusion comes and goes, sometimes he is violent. Is this normal? specially after two weeks? the medical staff are not explaining this behavior to the family and we are all woried sick.

Looking back I see you are in India, so my Medicare comment isn't relevant. I assume you have access to physical therapy, if not the medical doctor may be the source of specific exercise advice.

Good luck,

Not sure what you mean by "coma".. but dizziness when moving from a resting position to an active (standing/walking/climbing) state is common more among the older group, my age group.

Regular physical exercise can improve heart and muscle strength and should be done every day.

I have no idea either what "has been doing that..." means.  Did the doctor describe a specific exercise and duration?  It may well be more, or more often, exercise is needed.  But, build up slowly.  you know you are working out when you feel stronger and can increase the workout load.  If no change is detected it may be you are not pushing hard enough - "no pain , not gain" is one saying.  Always be careful not to push too hard, here's were professional guidance may be needed - a physical therapist.  This should also be covered by Medicare, I believe.  That greatly reduces the cost of getting the "right" and "correct" advice... I am just chatting, not giving specific advice on level or content of workout.
