Skipped heartbeats

Since two months, I have experienced skipped heart beats. I showed it to a cardiologist, who took EKG and did Echo cardiogram and said the heart is fine. But why am I getting these? The answer was diffuse- anxiety etc. he didn't think it was anything to worry about. I am taking Cal-mag supplement.

I seem to do better after meditation in the afternoon. During my daily walks, in the morning, I have noticed that initially there is no problem, but then it starts.
Sometimes hours will go by without the problem and sometimes they are more frequent. I have had runs of every third or fourth skipped heart beats. When I take my pulse, slowly they will lengthen in interval, may be due to diversion? While sleeping at night or afternoon nap, posture seems to make a difference.
When I get them, I feel unpleasant and in turn they give me anxiety, which I know is not good for me!!

Could the skipped heartbeats be caused by parasites? I often travel to Asia. Also, I have developed skin allegies since about ten months. They manifest as swellings and are warm to touch [seems like histamine reaction] and will subside in 4-5 days. After a couple of days, it will show up elsewhere and so on. It could be due to food, but haven't managed to isolate the exact culprit. In the meantime my eosinophil count has sky rocketed- 41% [am told that allergies elevate these]. I have been taking stearoids to bring it down since my physician was concerned. Are they correlated to skipped heartbeats? Help!!

Skipped beats in an otherwise normal heart are nothing to get anxious about...of course, that's easily said and hard to do.  For reasons why you get them, check out my comments to PghPanther (1/31), but ignore the stuff about AFib.

You may be starting a feedback cycle you'd want to avoid...ie, checking pulse, getting anxious, getting skips, checking pulse, getting anxious...

Your body will learn from this habit, and will make these critters show up even more.  I broke the cycle for myself by making an effort to not check the pulse.  That simple step broke the cycle (after months), to the point of not feeling anymore skips.  Now, when I do check, they are practically gone.

Information is also a powerful tool to lower your anxiety.  Reading these posts can help, but the best source of information is a cardiologist who is willing to explain how these things come to be.

I hate to say this but your skin problem sounds exactly like my good friend's recent skin problem which turned out to be bed bugs, of all things. She went through all sorts of testing and no dermatologist or allergist could figure it out until she happened to wake up in the middle of the night and turned on the lights and there the little buggers were. Apparently there's a big outbreak in NYC. Don't know where you live but if you travel a lot, maybe you brought some home? I do get more PVCs (skipped hearbeats) when I am sick, especially when I have a fever. You can see from reading postings on this site, that they are of no cause for concern - after you have been checked out by a cardiologist of course and given the "healthy heart" okay. Anxiety does make them worse for many people because it increases adrenalin and as my cardiologist explained if you were to squeeze adrenalin juice (if that were possible) on any healthy heart, it will have pvcs"

Thanks for the advice. Actually reading the past postings is very helpful. One realizes how common the PVC's are. I also find some observations amusing because they parallel one's own. Humor does put the problems in proper perspective!

Will welcome other responses...
