Squatting down causes chest pain, palpitations and shortness of breath

It happens often, squatting or stooping to get a pair of shoes from the floor of a store where they were stacked made my heart pound hard and felt abnormal plus the shortness of breath scares me.
Will a stress test figure things out? I’m not sure why squatting makes it painful as well, not sharp pains but dull aching pain. It stops once I stand and catch my breath.

I have no history of any heart problems. I’m 47yr old female.
Only major med problem I ever had was a blood clot that developed in my lungs when pregnant way back in late 2000-2001. Used lovenox until end of pregnancy, no blood clot issue post partum.

Hi there,

When I read your post, the first thing that came to my mind is orthostatic hypotension.  It's fancy word for saying that your blood pressure drops when you bend forward, standing up from a sitting position.  When your BP drops, your heart has to compensate and that's why we get heart palpitations.  Your chest can even hurt and you can feel short of breath during this time.  Do you often feel dizzy?

I struggle with this.  I had to learn to live with it and make small changes to the way I do things.  My BP is normally 90/60 and when it drops, I am sure it goes to 60's.  The first figure is your systolic, which measures the pressure in your blood vessels and when your heart beats.  The second is diastolic, that measures the number of beats.  That's why it will be fast and irregular when it is low.

A good BP 120/80.  Do you know what your BP is?  a good salt diet will increase your BP and you will feel heaps better!

I hope it was helpful.
Let me know how you go.
