Stress Tests and ACE Inhibitors

Is it advisable to take a stress test when one is on an ACE inhibitor?  I take Vasotec to protect my kidneys, as I have type 2 diabetes.  I didn't have high blood pressure when I went on Vasotec.  An exercise program that I want to join wants me to have a stress test first because of my diabetes.  Can a stress test be effective, or possibly dangerous in my case?

During a stress test your blood pressure and EKG is constantly monitored. If you feel any discomfort at any time, you tell them to stop the machine and you will not have any damage. It is no different to going for a walk. Discomforts quickly stop when you relax.
Ace inhibitors will not affect your performance and they are not going to cause harm.
The stress test will give an accurate reading of your general fitness which includes the fitness of your heart.
