Sudden Cardiac Death

Hi im 16 and scared of having sudden cardiac death
ive heard an irregular heart beat can cause this and i keep having little pauses in my heartbeat sometimes when i feel it , I had an ECG 3 days ago which was normal .
People say these things are PVC's but i don't think they are because i don't feel anything with them , i only notice them if i am feeling my pulse.
If i had a normal ECG 3 days ago in which i was diagnosed with Sinus Arrhythmia with , would the doctor have been able to tell if i was going to have a sudden cardiac death .
My GP has wrote a letter to the hospital asking about me having a 24 hour holter monitor but in the meantime i'm really worried about having sudden cardiac death :(

Well said, if the OP only knew what you and your daughter went through he would understand.

thanks.................

I agree.....your problem is not with your heart. Find someone to takk to. Sinus Arrhythmias are perfectly NORMAL! This is a normal reaction based on breathing. Your anxiety over this will only make matters worse for you because you are allowing, throughyour stress level, for catacholamines to FLOOD your bloodstream in response to your stress. Ever heard of the "Flight or Fight" response to stress? That's what is happening to you; perhaps this will help you to understand how far out of whack your system is becoming. You keep asking if the doctor can tell if you have a life threatening form of arrhythmia based on the EKG. Some things will definately show up like cardiomyopathies or W-P-W. My daughter, at 16 was dying from heart disease and arrhythmia issues were also a part of her picture....do yourself a huge favor: quit worrying about something that isn't there and go enjoy your teen years, there are a lot of teens who would trade places with you in a heartbeat!

I sent you a pm about this a few hours ago.  If, as you said, you saw your doc today and if you read the link I sent about PVCs, you should have a lot more information now--as well as some advice from your doc about seeing a therapist for your anxiety.

Like erijon, I can only hope that you seek help for the real problem, which is not in your heart.

You really need to stop this obsession, you are not going to have SCD with a normal heart and rhythm. 16 year old hearts don't just stop beating on their own. A 24 hour Holter  Monitor will not make any difference and he's only doing it to reassure you. Frankly, I'm surprised he's doing it.

You need to address your anxiety.
