Unable to take a deep breath 3 years post op of OHS

On June 1st 2015 I had open heart surgery for a leaky mitral valve. Lately I’ve been having these spells of feeling like I’m unable to take a deep breath, but for some reason tonight it’s worse. I’m not sure if I should be overly concerned or if I’m just having a rough time adjusting to the sudden onset of warmer weather. Please advise thank you

Has your diaphragm been checked?

I don’t think so
So since your saying open heart surgery... The two things that come to mind are diaphragm or constrictive fibrotic pericarditis.

Constrictive pericarditis can be evaluated via MRI.

Diaphragm with sniff test, nerve conduction study or ultrasound.

Look up symptoms for constrictive pericarditis and diaphragm paralysis see if either match you.
