This morning I suddenly felt very dizzy, and had sinking, feeling in my heart area,and profuse sweating. No chest pain, I just felt like I was going to pass out.

Go see a doctor. Any chest pain should be evaluated. It's may be nothing but better safe than sorry,

This sounds like a classic faint. How old are you, what is your health status, do you use any recreational drugs, etc?
It would be a good idea to check in with your regular doctor to report this.
