cholesterol test results

What do these test results indicate? What action should I take?
CBC = normal
Glucose = normal
Chemistries (sodium, potassium, kidney function, etc.) = normal
Thyroid tests = abnormal (TSH 5.0 H)
Urinalysis = abnormal*
Overall cholesterol = 238
Triglyceride = 59
HDL = 101
LDL = 125
*I forgot to drink any water the morning of the test. Did this affect the results?
I eat a balanced diet, am not overweight, don't smoke, and exercise regularly. I am not experiencing any adverse symtoms--no recent weight gain or loss, no pain; however, I am under a great deal of stress.

your triglycerides and hdl look great. your high hdl, which is good cholesterol is one of the reasons your total is a little high, they want it at 200 or below. they want your hdl to be above 50 i think. your triglycerides to be below 150, so yours is good. the thyroid test looks to me like you might have hyperthyroidism, not hypothyroidism. you can look this up on the internet. i hope this helps some. take care. remar

I am not a MD, but your high TSH could be elevating your LDL. The high TSH could mean you have hypothyroidism.  What did your Dr say about it? You want to get a second opinion.
