Please Help! My 2D Echo Result :-)

Hi Dr. Lee,

I'm 28 y.o. asian male obese since childhood but i do exercise everyday for the past 3 months. My weight before is 315 pounds now im down to 273 pounds. Im a smoker but already quit for few days already. Im just worried about my 2d echo report.  My Triglycerides is always high and my bad cholesterol. Im also taking up maintainance everyday 20mg Lipitor , 100mg aspirin tablet and vitamins

-Concentric left ventricular hypertrophy w/ adequate wall motion and contractility
-Thickened mitral valve with mild prolapse of the anterior mitral leaflet.

Other than the concentric hypertrophy which is likely a result of either high blood pressure or obstrictive sleep apnea there is nothing else that's very abnormal.  Your left atrium is slightly enlarged, but this isn't related to the mild mitral valve prolapse.  This is probably a result of the left ventricular hypertrophy.  The mitral valve needs to be monitored with echo's every few years.

i was amazed with my laboratory results:-) my triglycerides is good after 7 years all time high trigly my 3 months exercise has paid off i can't believe it! my bad cholesterol is now normal and my good cholesterol is going up!
